Care Guide

Designed to be worn, layered and loved with intention.

GENERAL CARE

To Polish and Protect

To extend the life of your Kirstin Ash pieces, we recommend removing your jewellery during swimming, exercising, bathing and sleeping.

Avoid wearing your jewellery when applying perfumes, lotions or chemicals, as residue can build up and affect the finish over time.

If you notice light buildup from daily wear, gently polish your piece with a soft microfibre cloth. For a deeper clean, briefly soak your jewellery in mild soapy water for no more than 10 minutes, gently polish and buff with the microfibre cloth once dry.

We recommend deep cleaning no more than once per month and never leaving pieces submerged for extended periods, as excessive moisture can gradually affect gold plating.

Storage

Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from humidity and direct sunlight.

Keeping your pieces in a jewellery box or tray, ideally with an anti-tarnish strip (included with your order), can help absorb excess moisture and slow oxidation. While our packaging is designed for gifting, we do not recommend storing your jewellery in its original box or pouch long-term, as limited airflow may contribute to tarnishing over time.

Humidity, heat and chemicals may contribute to tarnishing over time. If your piece darkens or shifts in tone, please know this is a natural reaction between metal, oxygen and moisture in the air. Proper care can help preserve your piece’s natural lustre.

Earrings

Our earrings are crafted from precious metals and may naturally shift slightly with regular wear, storage and use.

If your earring post no longer aligns perfectly, open the clasp and gently lift the post upward until it clicks securely back into place.

If your butterfly back loosens over time, remove it from the post and gently squeeze the sides before placing it back on. This should restore its original fit and feel.

Necklaces and Bracelets

Many of our designs are fine and delicate. To minimise tangling, store necklaces hanging with the clasp fastened.

If tangling occurs, gently massage the knot between your fingers to loosen it. Once slightly loosened, carefully work the chain apart - this may take some time.

As with all fine jewellery, we recommend removing delicate chains daily to prevent unnecessary tension or wear.

Rings

As our hands are in constant use, rings often experience more wear and residue than other pieces.

To reduce scratches, discolouration or buildup, remove rings before exercising, showering or cleaning. Avoid exposure to chemicals, lotions and perfumes wherever possible.

METAL CARE

Sterling Silver

Our sterling silver pieces are crafted from 925 silver and finished with a protective layer to maintain their brightness. Silver may naturally oxidise over time, especially when exposed to air or moisture. Daily wear can prevent your piece from developing a layer of dullness or tarnish that sometimes forms during long-term storage.

Gold Vermeil & Gold Plated

Our 18k gold vermeil and gold plated pieces feature a layer of precious gold over sterling silver or brass base. With time and wear, this finish will naturally soften. Minimising moisture, friction and exposure to chemicals will help extend the life of your piece.

Solid Gold

Crafted from 9k gold, our solid gold pieces are designed for everyday wear. Solid gold may develop a subtle tonal shift or light surface scratches over time - a reflection of being worn and loved. With gentle care and an occasional polish, its natural lustre can be easily restored, keeping your piece bright and beautiful for years to come.

GEMSTONE CARE

Our designs feature carefully selected semi-precious gemstones, cultured freshwater pearls, and ethically sourced diamonds.

Each gemstone is natural and unique, so slight variations in tone and finish may occur, intentionally adding to its character.

To care for your gemstones, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemicals, water, or prolonged sunlight. Freshwater pearls are delicate - keep them away from perfumes, lotions, and moisture, and wipe them clean after wear. Diamonds are durable, but still benefit from occasional gentle polishing to maintain their sparkle.
